SIIRI “Zukunftstag” – Experiencing Research in the Lab
“Zukunftstag” 2026 , SIIRI welcomed interested students who gained exciting insights into implant research.
In the Laboratory for Biomechanics and Biomaterials, the students learned about the investigation of human movement patterns and the role of mechanical loads on implants. It was clearly demonstrated how movement data is recorded and scientifically analyzed.
At NIFE (Lower Saxony Center for Biomedical Engineering, Implant Research and Developmen), the students worked in different groups and were able to explore various areas of research. Among other things, they learned how pH values are measured—showing how acidic or basic an environment is. This helps identify whether, for example, inflammation is developing or biofilms are forming. Biofilms were also examined and removed, highlighting why these topics are so important in implant research.
We were very pleased about the great interest and hope that the day sparked enthusiasm for research and medical technology.
