The SIIRI consortium is delighted to congratulate Prof. Dr. Susanne Häußler on her election to the European Academy of Microbiology (EAM). On 23 March 2026, the EAM announced the admission of 95 new members, including Prof. Häußler, Head of the “Molecular Bacteriology” Department at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) and at TWINCORE – Centre for Experimental and Clinical Infection Research.

This election is a special honour recognising her outstanding scientific contributions in the field of microbial genomics and molecular diagnostics. Her research focuses on multidrug-resistant pathogens and chronic, biofilm-associated infections, particularly those caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Her work makes a significant contribution to understanding persistent infection mechanisms and drives the development of innovative diagnostic tools as well as new therapeutic strategies against antibiotic-resistant biofilm infections. Her extensive expertise also feeds into SIIRI Project B02, where it strengthens ongoing collaborative research efforts.

The SIIRI consortium warmly congratulates her on this outstanding international recognition and looks forward to continuing close and successful scientific collaboration.
