Award for Prof. Thomas Lenarz at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Skull Base Surgery
At the 32nd Annual Meeting of the Society for Skull Base Surgery (GSB) in Aarau, Switzerland, Prof. Thomas Lenarz, Director of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Hannover Medical School (MHH) and A05 project leader in SIIRI, received a special honor:
He was invited to give the prestigious Kurt Schürmann Lecture – a distinction reserved for leading figures in the field of skull base surgery.
In his laudatory speech, Prof. Nils-Claudius Gellrich, Chair of the GSB, praised Prof. Lenarz for his outstanding scientific and clinical achievements. Under his leadership, MHH has established the world’s largest center for cochlear implantation – an internationally recognized institution representing clinical excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and medical innovation.
With the invitation to give the Kurt Schürmann Lecture, the GSB honors Prof. Lenarz’s exceptional commitment to advancing skull base surgery and hearing rehabilitation – contributions that continue to shape the field to this day.
