Professor Lars Dietrich’s research at Columbia University in New York State includes the study of bacterial cell-cell communication and the development of biofilms of the pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which produces phenazines, colored redox-active antibiotics that regulate gene expression and whose absence can lead to altered morphology. His lecture is entitled:
“Metabolic heterogeneity and antibiotic tolerance in bacterial biofilms”
