Knovember of Science – A Day with SIIRI

On November 13, 2025, the NIFE opened its doors for the “Knovember of Science” – and the SIIRI research consortium was part of it. Under the motto “Innovative Implants for Greater Patient Safety”, visitors had the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at our interdisciplinary research.
At SIIRI, we used the day to showcase our latest developments in intelligent, safety-integrated, and infection-reactive implants. In addition to the lecture by Marco Haertlé from Orthopedics, guests could experience SIIRI’s interdisciplinary research firsthand during lab tours. Our expo with interactive hands-on activities made complex research topics tangible and invited visitors to try things out themselves.
Beyond presenting our research, the event offered numerous opportunities for personal discussions and exchange between scientists, students, tech enthusiasts, and other visitors. The many hands-on activities at our expo were met with great interest and helped make complex research topics accessible.
For us at SIIRI, the “Knovember” was once again a valuable occasion to make research transparent, spark enthusiasm for innovation in medical technology, and demonstrate how our work can improve the safety and quality of life for patients.
