The CRC/Transregio SIIRI mourns the death of Prof. Dr. Peter Behrens

SIIRI member Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Peter Behrens passed away on January 13, 2023 at the age of 65 after a short serious illness. As an active member of the SIIRI Steering Committee, he played a pivotal role in shaping the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio SIIRI from its inception. His significant contributions to the promotion of young scientists through the Integrated Research Training Group “Implant Technologies” and his dedication to interdisciplinary implant research have left a lasting impact. Prof. Behrens was not only an outstanding scientist but also a remarkable university teacher, fostering collaboration between Leibniz University and Hannover Medical School in the field of biomedical research. His involvement in various research collaborations, including SFB 599, Rebirth, Hearing4All, PhoenixD, and BIOFABRICATION for NIFE, reflects his valuable contributions to the scientific community.
Prof. Peter Behrens will be remembered not only for his exceptional achievements but also for his humor, friendly demeanor, and collegial spirit. He was a special person, and his legacy will endure in our hearts and memories.
