About our research work

In the interdisciplinary Collaborative Research Center/Transregio 298 SIIRI (Safety-Integrated and Infection-Reactive Implants), over 150 scientists from various fields, including medicine, dentistry, engineering, and natural and social sciences, collaborate. The participating institutions include Hannover Medical School, Leibniz Universität Hannover, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig, Technische Universität Braunschweig, and the Hanover University of Music, Drama, and Media.

The research focusses on the development of innovative strategies to enhance implant safety. Pioneering safety strategies for medical implants are being explored by applying concepts from engineering sciences, including those derived from aviation technology to enhance safety. The ultimate aim is to make implants safer through groundbreaking research and application of safety principles.

We are SIIRI.

Our mission is to elevate implant research, pushing boundaries to ensure safer implants in the future. Discover more about our team of researchers in the fields of medicine, engineering, natural sciences, and social sciences in the team section.
