4,000 Implants Later – Looking Back at the SIIRI Stand at IdeenExpo
IdeenExpo provided an excellent opportunity to present our research at the SIIRI stand to a broad audience in an interactive and engaging way. From July 20–28, 2026, numerous visitors had the chance to gain insights into our work and experience research firsthand.
We were particularly pleased by the strong interest in our stand — both from the general public and through visits from Falco Mohrs, Lower Saxony’s Minister for Science and Culture (MWK), the delegation of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education, as well as other guests from politics and the public sector. This attention increased the visibility of our research and highlighted the strong interest in innovative scientific topics and the transfer of scientific knowledge into society.
Another highlight was the high level of participation at our hands-on station, where visitors were able to create model “implants” from soap themselves: together, around 58 kg of soap was processed — equivalent to approximately 4,000 “implants” — demonstrating the strong engagement with our interactive format.
The SIIRI stand at IdeenExpo once again demonstrated the value of direct exchange between research and society and the important role interactive formats play in making science accessible and engaging.
